A clear 5-step process.
Easy to understand.
Easy to buy.

Our programme is built around best-practice hose management - combining inventory, inspection, engineering optimisation and planned replacement into a single, managed service.

It works for a single production area, a whole vessel or an entire manufacturing site. We scale to your operation.

01

Survey & Asset Register

Before anything else, we come to you. Our engineers will visit your site or machinery, carry out a thorough walkthrough, and talk to your team to understand exactly how your equipment operates and what you need. We'll identify every hose in service – type, size, condition, location, and any fittings that fall outside standard spec. At the same time, we'll have a conversation about your operational priorities: whether you need spares held on-site, what your critical machines are, and how your maintenance windows work. Nothing is assumed. By the time we leave, we have a complete picture of your hydraulic systems and a clear plan for what comes next.

02

Hi-Tag Identification

Every hose receives a unique Hi-Tag identifier, linking it permanently to its machine, zone and risk profile. Tags make future inspections faster, re-ordering more accurate, and create the traceable record that compliance and engineering teams need. Hoses without identity cannot be managed. You'll always know exactly what's on your site, when it was last inspected, and when it needs replacing.

Faster future re-ordering

Full traceability

03

Inspection & Risk Assessment

Our BFPA-accredited engineers conduct a thorough condition assessment of every tagged hose - checking for abrasion, kinking, heat damage, corrosion, unsupported runs, vibration strain and proximity to replacement age windows. The result is a clear picture of where risk sits today.

Heat & environment degradation

Access & maintainability

04

Engineering Improvement

The best programmes remove the root cause of repeat failures - not just replace the same assembly again. We recommend routing improvements, protective sleeving, better clamp positions and fitting changes that extend hose life and reduce future maintenance burden. Better routing means longer hose life, tidier installations and faster interventions.

05

Planned Replacement & Ongoing Support

Condition data drives a prioritised replacement list, timed to your shutdown windows, refit schedules or rolling replacement programme. Our BFPA-accredited engineers carry out the work. We can manufacture and pressure-test hoses off-site to certify each assembly to your specification. The outcome is not just a repaired hose - it is a managed maintenance plan.

Engineers who know your site,
not just your hoses

Our engineers aren't generalists passing through. Whoever covers your area will be with you from the initial survey through to the completed work - building a genuine understanding of your machinery, your priorities and how your operation runs. We back our engineers completely, and our customers feel it. They value the direct relationship, knowing they can pick up the phone to someone who already understands their site and their equipment. That's what keeps customers coming back.

Reactive maintenance
leaves too much to chance.

Hydraulic hose failures rarely come without warning. The signs build silently - abrasion, heat, vibration, poor routing - long before the breakdown call. Without a clear system for inspection and traceability, maintenance teams are left firefighting instead of preventing.

UK Hose exists to change that. Our preventative maintenance programme creates visibility, establishes risk-based inspection cycles and replaces hoses on your schedule - not the hose's.

Abrasion & rubbing

Contact with equipment, structure or other hoses wears through outer cover over time

Tight bend radius & twist

Strain at fittings and kinking under pressure accelerates internal wire fatigue

Heat & environmental exposure

Moisture, salt, chemicals and extreme temperatures degrade rubber and fittings

Unknown hose age & poor traceability

Without tagging and records, replacement timing is guesswork - and guesswork fails

Vibration & unsupported runs

Long unsupported spans subject hoses to cyclic stress and premature fatigue failure

Three reasons
to act now

The case for preventative hose maintenance isn't abstract. It's operational, commercial and safety-critical. Our programme delivers measurable improvement across three dimensions that matter to engineering and finance teams alike.

01

Minimise Downtime

Unplanned hydraulic failures bring production lines, vessels and specialist machinery to a halt - often at the worst possible moment. A structured programme replaces hoses on your schedule, not when they choose to fail. Planned downtime is manageable. Emergency downtime is costly.

02

Improve Safety

High-pressure hydraulic failures create serious safety risks - fluid injection injuries, fire hazards and environmental contamination. Our inspection process spots deterioration before it becomes a danger. And with BFPA-accredited engineers and ISO 9001 quality systems, every programme is built to the highest professional standard.

03

Manage Cost

Emergency callouts, expedited parts, disrupted production and repeat failures are expensive and unpredictable. A preventative programme converts reactive cost spikes into a consistent, budgetable maintenance spend. Over a 5-year horizon, planned maintenance consistently outperforms the reactive model - in both total cost and operational stability.

Built for sites where
hydraulic uptime is critical.

Our preventative maintenance programme is designed for complex environments with demanding hydraulic systems - wherever a failure is disruptive, costly, or dangerous.

Factories & Manufacturing

Production lines, hydraulic power units, presses and plant rooms where a single hose failure can halt an entire line. We create the visibility and replacement plan that keeps it running.

Marine & Shipboard

Salt water, corrosion, moisture and confined spaces make proactive inspection non-negotiable. We support planned refit schedules and vessel-wide hose programmes.

Rail & Locomotive

Hydraulic systems in rolling stock and infrastructure face constant vibration, temperature cycling and tight maintenance windows. Our tagging and planned replacement approach fits naturally into depot scheduling.

Food Production

Contamination risk, hygiene regulations and continuous production make hose traceability and planned maintenance essential in food and beverage manufacturing environments.

Breweries

Brewery hydraulics operate in wet, temperature-variable environments with regular washdowns. Correct hose specification, clear records and planned replacement protect both product quality and site safety.

Theme Parks & Attractions

Bespoke one-off hydraulic machinery, safety-critical ride systems and complex attractions need the highest levels of traceability, inspection rigour and engineering-led maintenance.

    FAQs about our Breakdown Support

    What is preventative hose management?

Preventative hose management is a structured approach to maintaining your hydraulic systems. It involves tagging every hose, building a full asset register, carrying out regular inspections, and planning replacements before failure occurs. The goal is simple: identify risk early and prevent costly breakdowns rather than reacting to them.

    What does the service include?

The service follows a clear, step-by-step process:

    • Surveying and registering all hose assets
    • Assigning a unique tag to each hose for traceability
    • Inspecting condition, wear, and risk factors
    • Recommending routing and system improvements
    • Creating a planned maintenance and replacement schedule

This ensures every hose is accounted for, monitored, and maintained effectively.

What are the benefits of a preventative approach?

Preventative hose management reduces unplanned downtime, improves safety, and allows you to move from reactive costs to predictable maintenance spend. By identifying issues early, you can avoid emergency call-outs, extend hose life, and maintain consistent operational performance.

Take Control of Your Hydraulic Systems Before They Fail

Breakdowns do not have to be part of your operation. With a proactive hose management programme, you can gain full visibility, reduce risk, and plan maintenance with confidence – keeping your equipment running and your costs under control.
